How do I format a chat message (bold, lists, code, links)?

Use the toolbar above the message box, or type / for a list of formatting commands. Press Enter to send and Shift+Enter for a new line.

Steps

1. Click in the message box of any chat or channel.
2. Format your text in one of these ways:
   • Toolbar buttons: Bold, Italic, Underline, Bullet List, Numbered List, Code Block and Insert Link. For a link, you’ll be asked to enter the URL.
   • Slash commands: type / and choose Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3, Bullet List, Numbered List, Code Block or Divider. Keep typing after the / to filter the list.
3. Press Enter to send.

Good to know

• Shift+Enter adds a line break without sending.
• Links in messages open in a new tab.
• Only basic formatting is kept when a message is sent. Other styling and pasted HTML are stripped out.
