Why can't I scroll back to older chat messages, or search them?

A chat or channel shows only its 50 most recent messages. Older messages are still saved, but you can’t scroll back to them, and WorkHub can’t search chat messages yet.

Good to know

• Older messages aren’t deleted. They just aren’t shown on the chat screen.
• The Search box at the top of the chat sidebar filters conversation and channel names, not message text. The global search doesn’t cover chat messages either.
• Workaround: in a channel, bookmark important messages or links so they stay easy to find. See “How do I bookmark a message or link in a channel?”
• Comments on tasks are separate from these chats and are included in a company data export. Direct messages, group chats and channel messages aren’t.
