How do I import tasks from a spreadsheet?

Company admins can upload a CSV file in Settings → Data → Import, choose the project and list, check the preview, and confirm.

Steps

  1. Click Settings in the left menu, then Data.
  2. Under Import, optionally download the tasks template to see the expected format.
  3. Save your spreadsheet as a CSV file. The first row must be the column headers.
  4. Set What are you importing? to Tasks.
  5. Choose the CSV file, then the Project and the List the tasks should go into.
  6. Click Upload & preview.
  7. Review the preview: how many rows are ready, which columns were recognized, the first rows, and any Problems.
  8. Click Import X tasks to save, or Cancel to stop.

Good to know

  • Columns: title (required), description, status, priority, due_date, assignee_email and tags. Common alternative headers like “Task”, “Name”, “Due”, “Deadline”, “Assignee” or “Labels” are recognized too. Other columns are listed as ignored.
  • Status can be backlog, pending, in_planning, in_progress, testing, approval, completed or archived. Everyday words also work: “To do” and “Open” become pending, “Done” and “Closed” become completed, “Doing” becomes in_progress. A blank status becomes pending. An unknown one also becomes pending, with a warning.
  • Priority can be low, normal, high or urgent (“Medium” becomes normal, “Critical” becomes urgent). Blank or unknown values become normal (unknown ones with a warning).
  • Due dates can be written in most common formats, like 2026-03-15, 3/15/2026 or Mar 15, 2026. Dates that can’t be read are left empty, with a warning.
  • Separate several assignees or tags with commas. Assignees must be members of the company (matched by email), or the task is left unassigned. New tags are created automatically.
  • Limits: up to 5,000 rows and 5 MB. Comma, semicolon or tab separated files all work.
  • Nothing is saved until you click Import. Import within an hour of uploading, or upload again. Imported tasks don’t send notifications to assignees.
  • There’s no undo button for an import, so check the preview carefully.
