How do I add sub-tasks?
On the task’s Overview tab, scroll to Sub-tasks, click Add sub-task, type a title and press Enter.
Steps
- Open the parent task.
- Scroll to Sub-tasks and click Add sub-task.
- Type the title in Sub-task title… and press Enter or click Add.
- Tick a sub-task’s checkbox to mark it complete. Untick it to reopen it.
- Click a sub-task’s title to open it as a full task.
Good to know
- Sub-tasks are full tasks. They go into the same project and list as the parent, start with the status Backlog, and also appear in List View and Board.
- The counter (for example “2/5 Completed”) and progress bar show how many sub-tasks are done.
- The parent task can’t be marked Completed until every sub-task is completed. The Related tab lists them under “Sub-tasks (Auto-blocking)”.
- Unticking a completed sub-task sets it back to In Progress.
- A sub-task can’t be moved to a different parent task.
