Why won't my file upload?

Uploads usually fail because the file is too large, its type isn’t allowed, or your account is read-only. The upload row turns red and shows the reason. Click the row to dismiss it.

Good to know

  • Too large: each file can be up to 50 MB, or less if the server has a lower limit. The current limit is shown in the drop area (“… up to X per file”). Messages include “… is over the … limit” and “File is larger than the web server allows (HTTP 413)”. Compress the file or share it with Add link instead (for example a Google Drive or Dropbox link).
  • File type not allowed: you’ll see ‘File type “…” is not allowed’. Common documents, images, audio, video, archives and many code and text formats are accepted. Programs and scripts that could run on a server (for example .exe, .bat, .msi, .jar, .dll and .php) are always blocked. Files without an extension are also refused. Zip the file, or rename it with the correct extension.
  • Empty file: zero-byte files are rejected with “Empty file”.
  • “Upload was interrupted” or “Network error”: your connection dropped. Try again.
  • No Upload button or drop area: your account has the Viewer role, which is read-only.
  • “These files are managed from the Team page”: that project’s files can only be changed from the Team section.
  • If an error mentions the server’s PHP upload limit, ask your WorkHub administrator. They can raise it and check it under Admin → System Status.
